Laoise Ní Ghríofa is a visual artist based in Galway City. She holds a BA in Contemporary Art from ATU Galway, an MFA from Umeå University in Sweden, and a Professional Master of Education in Art and Design with Digital Media from TUS. Working primarily in paint, her practice moves between the ambiguous and the recognisable, creating works that invite both personal interpretation and shared experience.
Rooted in memory, Laoise Ní Ghríofa’s work aims to evoke immersive, sensory encounters for both herself and the viewer. Her work draws from a wide range of influences, including photography, poetry, music, fashion, mythology, language, and Irish culture. These are translated onto canvas through the use of vivid colours. Viewers are encouraged to form their own meaning, allowing each encounter to become a distinct and individual experience.
